The 1st Virginia Regiment was authorized on July 17, 1775, under the command of Patrick Henry, one of the most influential voices of the American Revolution. The regiment served with distinction throughout the war, participating in many of its most important campaigns and battles.
The unit saw action at Trenton, Princeton, Brandywine, Germantown, Valley Forge, Stony Point, and Yorktown, contributing to key victories that ultimately secured American independence. The 1st Virginia Regiment earned a reputation for perseverance and discipline, standing among the notable Continental Army regiments of the Revolution.
