This is one of the most beautifully detailed and colorful flags we have ever produced. The level of clarity and richness seen in this design would not have been possible even a few years ago, prior to advances in modern digital printing technology. The result is a flag with exceptional detail, depth of color, and historical presence.

Theodore Roosevelt was one of the most dynamic and storied presidents in American history. At 42 years old, he became the youngest man ever to serve as President of the United States and later became the first president widely known by his initials—TR.

A prolific intellectual, Roosevelt authored 35 books and was an authority on subjects ranging from botany to British naval history in the War of 1812. Historian David McCullough noted that Roosevelt could read two books in a single night and accurately quote them years later.

Before the presidency, Roosevelt served as New York City Police Commissioner, where he famously walked the streets at night to catch officers sleeping on duty. Personal tragedy shaped his character deeply—he lost both his young wife and his mother on the same night, an event that led him west, where he lived as a cowboy, rancher, and sheriff in North Dakota.

As Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Roosevelt helped modernize the U.S. Navy and set the stage for America’s rise as a global power. In 1898, he resigned his post to seek combat in the Spanish–American War, forming the 1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry. The unit was composed of an extraordinary mix of men—Dakota Badlands frontiersmen, Ivy League athletes, polo players, a tennis champion, New York City police officers, and Pawnee scouts. Newspapers soon dubbed them “The Rough Riders.”

After leaving the presidency, Roosevelt even sought to return to combat during World War I, though he was ultimately denied. In 1906, he became the first American to win a Nobel Prize, receiving the Nobel Peace Prize for mediating the end of the Russo-Japanese War.
