Many of the historic flags featured on our website originate from customer suggestions. When we’re presented with a compelling story, solid historical research, and a visually striking design, we’re happy to bring it to life. This flag is one such example. The concept was shared with us by the great-great-great-grandson of a “Whiskey Rebel” who stood trial for his participation in the rebellion, based on extensive historical research he conducted on the subject.

The slogan “Liberty and No Excise” is known to have appeared on multiple rally items associated with the Whiskey Rebellion, and there is strong historical evidence suggesting it was also displayed on this flag. The six stars and stripes represent the five Pennsylvania counties and one Virginia county that took part in the rebellion.
